Day 5: Your favorite current team
Though I'm a McLaren fan, I would say my current favorite team
is Lotus. Admittedly, it's because one of my favorite drivers Kimi Raikkonen was driving for them, but 2013 opened my eyes to another reason why I believe Lotus is by far the best team on the grid.

Well, first and foremost as any F1 fan would put forward as their reason- my favorite driver races there. But this year, it's also because Romain Grosjean lifted the bar pretty high. I'm happy to see that Lotus, like the olden days' McLaren, made the right decision to keep Grosjean despite all the ruckus he caused last year and nurture him to a top class driver who was the only challenger to Vettel in the 2nd half of 2013.
The whole team works well, despite all the financial trouble that they were challenged with, the team never let themselves dissolve in the crisis and kept the team together- sort of.

Hamilton to Mercedes and Perez to McLaren.. A brave move?

All through his career, McLaren has been 'the one'. In December 1995, at the age of 10, Lewis Hamilton approached McLaren Team principal Ron Dennis at the Autosport Awards ceremony and told him, "I want to race for McLaren one day." Nearly, after 14 years of the McLaren team nurturing and establishing Hamilton as 'one the best drivers on the grid', Lewis decides to move to another team in 2013, in sight of a 'new challenge'. That news hit fans like a lightning bolt. Would Lewis' fans shift heir base along with his  move to Mercedes? That same day, news erupted that McLaren have opted to replace Hamilton with Sergio Perez!  It was another dose of lightning strike. Sergio Perez, by then, had already finished thrice on podium and also showed he had winner worth talent in him and had a long way to go in F1. 2013 Pirelli Spanish Grand Prix – Lessons we learnt during the weekend

Back to where it all began.. Catalunya. The difference, though, is now we’re going to see racing here. It’s said that the Spanish Grand Prix is where the ‘real season’ starts, because that’s where all the major changes happen, like the upgrades brought in by the teams. But this year, it was an awful lot different. Coming to Catalunya was like the second start to the season. Pirelli, who have been under constant pressure and criticism from RedBull Racing and few other teams, finally decided to make amendments to the hard compound tires, hoping to make it similar to last year’s hard compound. And since Formula One is no more than tyre management now, it looked like a positive step from Pirelli to promote more racing. And the fans loved it! Practice 1 was disrupted by heavy rains and to no surprise, many of the drivers didn’t run. And those who did, unable to hold in the impatience, ran on wet or intermediate tires.
