3..2..1 and LAUNCH!

The 2013 Formula one season officially kicks off on 15th March at Melbourne, but the pre season testing is something like a month ahead. That's the time where most of the constructors launch their season challengers.
The first testing will be at Jerez and the second at Barcelona. Testing basically helps re-modify the cars for the first race of the season. Of course, not that nothing's tested when the cars are deigned, but Jerez will be the first taste of a track for the new car.
So here are the Launch dates for different constructors.


McLaren MP4-28 - Jan 31st

Force India - 1st Feb

Sauber C32 - 2nd Feb

RedBull RB9 - Feb 3rd

Mercedes F1W04 - 4th feb

ToroRosso STR8 - 4th Feb

Williams FW35 - 19th Feb

Scuderia Ferrari F2013 - early Feb

Lotus Renault E21 - Late January

Jerez Testing

Author's note : Its a bit too late to post an article on Jerez tests, when the second test at Barcelona has already begun, but I think that's okay. And just to hint you: Jerez is pronounced 'Hur-ez', just a note cause I kept pronouncing it the wrong way (until I saw Ted Kravitz, from Sky F1 do the correct pronunciation) and happened to get embarrassed when I had to use that word in front of a crowd. 2013 Pirelli Spanish Grand Prix – Lessons we learnt during the weekend

Back to where it all began.. Catalunya. The difference, though, is now we’re going to see racing here. It’s said that the Spanish Grand Prix is where the ‘real season’ starts, because that’s where all the major changes happen, like the upgrades brought in by the teams. But this year, it was an awful lot different. Coming to Catalunya was like the second start to the season. Pirelli, who have been under constant pressure and criticism from RedBull Racing and few other teams, finally decided to make amendments to the hard compound tires, hoping to make it similar to last year’s hard compound. And since Formula One is no more than tyre management now, it looked like a positive step from Pirelli to promote more racing. And the fans loved it! Practice 1 was disrupted by heavy rains and to no surprise, many of the drivers didn’t run. And those who did, unable to hold in the impatience, ran on wet or intermediate tires.
